Review: Silmarillion

Author: J.R.R Tolkien

Series:   Silmarillion

Publication Date: 1999

Rating: Recomended

Summary: Before the rings,  the silmarils and trees of light were there. Before Sauron, Melkor twisted the elves. The Silmarillion reveals all that was before the rings of power. It shows what happened in the very beginning. The Silmarillion tells all from the Valar's origins, to the tale of Luthien and Beren, to the start of Sauron.

What I liked: This book was great. It explains everything that a reader would want to know after reading Tolkien's Lord of The Rings. The collection of tales residing under the cover are truly magical. The only thing I did not like, were the tales that overlapped some-what. Otherwise, it was amazing!

Review: The Fellowship of the Ring

Author: J.R.R. Tolkien

Series:Lord of The Rings: book 1
Publication Date:1954
Rating: Highly Recommended
Summary: Once, a ring was made. Powerful though it was, soon it was lost. Nearly 500 years later Frodo Baggins sets out to Rivendell with a ring, remarkably like the lost ring of power. At Rivendell he is chosen to, along with eight companions, take the ring to Mount Doom and destroy it. Through perils and dreams the fellowship walks. All are thought to be trust worthy, but there may be a traitor in their mist.

What I liked: I know this book is over 50 years old, but this book is very good. If you are a fantasy and fiction lover, then you will love this book. I personally like the action, suspense, and all the fictional species. It is amazing how Tolkien managed to string this together in such a way that even when it is done, you are still on the edge of your seat hoping for more.
